Anonymous asked: Which prose writers do you most admire? Are there any you feel like you've worshipped but grown out of a bit? If you could steal any one aspect of a writer's talent, what would it be?

I used to adore Sylvia Plath, but haven’t read her in absolute years. She defines a part of my life when everything was so intense and absolute, and she spoke to that part of me. In the same way Charles Bukowski was my idol when I was going through a messy boozy phase.

Now I love Zola to the point where it’s become a minor obsession, and Bret Easton Ellis is always awesome (as I discussed a few questions ago!). Zola though: seriously. It’s a sickness.
